SAFF JUNO - EP REVIEW

Saff Juno - Escaped The Box

Release Date: Out Now

Devon singer-songwriter Saff Juno has finally dropped her debut EP after some tantalising singles so lets dive in and enjoy the refined waters, shall we? 'Escaped The Box' is a five track collection that opens with the title track, a gorgeous, rolling track that builds in to a Florence + the Machine inspired track if Florence had been hanging out with the Kooks and KT Tunstall for a long weekend. On 'Nightmare Nightmare' is more if a swaggering, guitar infused indie kicker slathered with sweet, smooth vocals before 'Since You Left' mixes a sense of nostalgia with the emotional hit of watching all the saddest episodes of Friends on a wet Friday night just after a breakup.

My favourite track of the collection is the soulful, assured chug of 'How Does He' which reminds of Bailey Tomkinson & the Locals with its blend of country, blues, indie and swaying rock'n'roll. The EP closes out with 'Nothing Weighed Her Down', a track that wastes no time in getting down to business but also shows off the brilliantly versatile voice of Saff Juno wonderfully. As an EP, this shows off an artist finding her sound without compromising on her explorative and inquisitive nature. As a debut, it is seriously impressive so everyone should pay attention.
