Jon Fazal is what I might describe as a subdued talent but that makes him all the more rewarding when you spend time with his new music. Fazal's latest release 'New Moon' opens with a smoky piano melody followed by a soft acoustic twang but these are just preludes to the main event. That voice. You see, Jon Fazal has the kind of voice you want to wrap yourself up in on a cold autumn day and let the rain outside fall. There's warmth, charm and personality in this song but what I wasn't expecting was the blues-meets-gospel blast at the half-way mark that could give Hozier a run for his money. Beautiful, beautiful music.
