SCOTT LAVENE - SINGLE REVIEW

Scott Lavene - A Bus In July/Muscle Car
(Nothing Fancy)

Release Date: Out Now

Sorry, sorry, sorry. Running a bit late with Scott Lavene Coverage so I've mashed his two latest singles together into one wholesome review. Hope you don't mind. First up is 'A Bus In July' which starts with a lazy, summery acoustic riff plucked out from a nearby pub garden tinged with sadness and heartache. Lavene's spoken word then joins in with dry wit and a deadpan delivery that instantly draws you in to listen intently to the expert story telling - it's the most beautiful song about a bag of custard you'll ever hear.

'Muscle Car' is the more recent of the two releases and has a more traditional singer-songwriter vibe but still paints a vivid picture as the Billy Bragg meets John Cooper Clarke vibes collide beautifully. "You mean more to me than any muscle car" is the kind of line that could mean huge amount or nothing at all depending on who sings it but Lavene delivers it with enough passion to make it believable. There's a hefty ol' tour coming this autumn so make sure to get out to a date and support a true artist while you still can.
