OK, so you're gut reaction is correct - this is a cover of the 1982 Pointer Sisters smash song 'I'm So Excited' by Swedish rockers Royal Republic. And yes, you're second thought is correct too - it's absolutely awesome. Chugging guitars and rapid drums set the tempo before the soft-rock vocals join to maintain some of the 80s energy of the original. The accompanying video is a delight as well so do yourself a favour and treat yourself to three minutes of pure joy. You won't regret it.
