This is the second spin-off from Bristol's Erotic Secrets of Pompeii that I've had the pleasure of hearing and it just cements the notion that this is a seriously talented bunch of musicians. Heavy For The Tropics' new single 'Vanities' takes a stern look at the current trend for self-obsession and value based on appearance but set to a dirty, bluesy, jazz-indie melody that makes you think you're in a Vegas bar and hallucinating the lyrics like, "so crispy crisp up your skin, smelling good, pork crackling, a perfect caramelanoma". Stick that in your sunbed and smoke it.
