I'm struggling to label Plymouth troubadour Gozer Goodspeed these days as his sound seems to be constantly evolving. The latest single, 'Flame Red Headlights', starts with a loose beat and acoustic groove that puts me in mind of Grandaddy, Beck or road trippin' through the Midwest at twilight. One thing that is constant, however, is Goodspeed's distinctive vocal sound which shines out like a bluesy beacon in the night sky. Luckily for us, this one comes with a B-side in the shape of 'Good To Go (Nothing Caught On Camera)', a proper late-night acoustic jam with a conspiratorial vibe and some subtly effective backing vocals. This is music for movies and the sooner the world wakes up to this fact the better off we'll be.
