Absent Minds - Daemons In Your Eyes

'Daemons In Your Eyes' is the debut single from upcoming Devon youngsters Absent Minds and, honestly, it is so good to hear a new generation picking up instruments and forming a band (a five-piece, no less). A frenetic bass and keys combo get us underway before the rest of the band join in to firm up the groove and we're off and rolling like a runaway train. Poised indie-rock vocals (see Sophie Ellis-Bexter when she was in theaudience) add a touch of class and it is impressive how they manage to keep control of this with the pace of it. There are elements of Squeeze, the Feeling, early Supergrass and Sugababes (if they'd been a little more indie influenced) all drenched in youthful exuberance but even if none of that floats your boat then this one will still get you - it's just that kind of song.
