It’s not often we get to collaborate or create with our family but this is just what the supremely talented Poppy Ackroyd has done with her late father, the artist Norman Ackroyd. ‘Notes On Water’ is, as you might expect, a haunting and emotive piano piece which very much brings to mind the sound of waves lapping over one another and birds swooping down to feed on the bounty that the sea provides. There’s a subtle, shuffling beat and rippling keys that match perfectly with the artwork created by Ackroyd senior featured in the accompanying visualiser. A beautiful tune and a fitting tribute.
