It's been a while since we've heard from Brighton noiseniks Beach Riot but, to my great delight, they have dropped a little treat for us, just in time for Christmas. 'Meltdown' is not particularly festive but it is reliably riotous as a buzzy bass line and 100mph drums get us hot under the collar before the guitars come pinging in to rev us up for the chorus. The energy is relentless and the blend of Rory O'Connor and Cami Menditeguy's vocals is the audio equivalent of sweet'n'sour sauce with the perfect blend of flavours. In the press blurb the band apologise for taking some time out and warn us that there might be another break coming up but when the music is this good you can just about forgive them. Quality over quantity is AOK in my book.
