Brilliantly, the Assist are back with new single 'Disconnections' and not a moment too late. 90s synths introduce this one before the band come clattering in like the party coming home after the pubs have closed. Breathless, almost rushed lyrics wrestle with spiralling guitars and the kind of drums that shake you from your monotonous daydreams. "I'm fighting so hard to help with this disconnection from life itself" goes the chorus which hits even harder in the downplayed middle eight and, well, the boys are back. There's a new album on the way, a couple of live dates and, well, a whole lot of trouble.
