GOO - SINGLE REVIEW

Goo - Tiny Dinosaur That Only I Can See

Release Date: Out Now

I'm a big fan of Goo already but then they went and dropped a single with, wait for it, actual B-sides but more of that later. 'Tiny Dinosaur That Only I Can See' is the main event, however, and it kicks us off with a rolling and romping grunge-pop sound that takes in elements of the Breeders, Veruca Salt, Elastica, and Sleeper if they had more distortion pedals. This is sonically uplifting stuff for those of us that love the sound of a powerful but melodic vocal riding the wave of a tsunami of guitars. Those aforementioned B-sides start with 'Miso' which is a more sludgy number full of 90s reference points from Bush and Mudhoney to Lush and Sponge but also a real Mazzy Starr vibe which I am very much into. 'Underground or Overseas' is the final offering and is a dreamier, more spaced out vibe that makes me want to close my eyes in the middle of an indie disco and just spin to the music. Goo are good. Very good. Very goo.
