LOUIS DUNFORD - SINGLE REVIEW

Louis Dunford - The Local (RCA)

Release Date: Out Now

Pubs are closing at an alarming rate all over the UK so it's about time somebody wrote an ode to the humble but oh-so-important public house. North London troubadour Louis Dunford has penned new single 'The Local' which opens with the worn and forlorn lyric "Thank fuck it's Friday" and soon builds into the kind of heartfelt anthem we've come to expect. Like a mix of Squeeze and Billy Bragg, Dunford deploys stabbing pianos, sweeping melodies and a chugging guitar line get the boozer rocking and the regulars singing along in unison "Long live the local, wherever you roam, times are hard for the hopeful so long live the local". Preach, brother.
