Westcountry indie-folk singer-songwriter Jon Fazal has brought some friends along for the party on his latest release and the experience is all the better for it. Vocalist Cat Rose and Hip-Hop collective the Scribes join Fazal on 'Edge of Somewhere, Part 2' which opens with a hypnotic piano melody matched by vocal harmonies and given a heart by the slowed down soul beat. There are elements of Lennon's songwriting for the Beatles, trippy Flaming Lips vibes and tones of Laura Marling when Cat Rose takes over the mic. When the Hip-Hop flow of the Scribes takes its turn in the spotlight, an additional layer of intimacy kicks in but the collective power behind the whole track makes this one of the most interesting and compelling listens of the year.
