FEEDER - SINGLE REVIEW

Feeder - Playing With Fire/ELF (Townsend
Music/Absolute Label Services)

Release Date: Out Now

Somewhat unexpectedly, Feeder have returned with a double album, a tour for the new year and this double-edged sword of single. The first edge/side (delete as appropriate) is 'Playing With Fire', a track which broods in the shadow briefly before bursting in to life like a reanimated Lemmy brought back to ensure justice is served on all the pretenders out there. There's the trademark soaring chorus and Grant Nicholas' distinctive vocal but Feeder have had fun making this track and that bodes extremely well. 'ELF' completes the single with a more prog-inspired sound that bounces on electro swirls and soars across neon horizons but never losing the Feeder 'sound' and, honestly, it's like hooking up with a good friend who has been away travelling for a few years and you pick up where you left off immediately. Welcome back Feeder.
