BEN HEMMING - EP REVIEW

Ben Hemming - Resurrection EP

Release Date: Out Now

Londoner Ben Hemming is trying to confuse us with his new 'Resurrection EP' starting with 'The End'. That's where the confusion ends, however, as this opening blues-rock stomper leaves you in no doubt that Hemming has come to rock and keep things moody in between the twanging guitar strings and slamming drums. On 'Baptise Me' there's a real Kings of Leon vibe to the slithering guitar playing and deep vocals that make you want to put on a denim jacket, grab a bottle of Jack and head down to the local watering hole.

Former single 'Holy For A Day' rattles and rolls with a blues spirit not unlike the mighty Gozer Goodspeed before 'Born To Die' provides a moment of calm and gentle melody with a vocal performance somewhere between Eddie Vedder and Brad Roberts. The EP ends on 'The Devil's Dance', an urgent, chugging confession of a song that stomps out any last vestiges of doubt or confusion you may have had. Ben Hemming is the real deal and the kind of singer-songwriter that should, by rights, be troubling the playlists of national radio before too long.
