Cardiff collective Pigeon Wigs have created one of my favourite videos of the year to accompany new single 'Hold Up!' and that's largely because it is based on creativity and imagination rather than massive budgets or booty shaking backing dancers. The song is a brilliantly swaggering bluesy number based around a meandering guitar line and the kind of vocal that would fit in to almost any era of rock'n'roll. Rattling guitars, thumping drums and a dollop of rock'n'roll energy make for an exciting ride that takes in the likes of Supergrass, T-Rex, Super Furry Animals, the Paris Riots and early Rolling Stones. Brilliant whichever way you look at it.
