RAZOR BRAIDS - SINGLE REVIEW

Razor Braids - Nashville, Again/Buddy Holly

Release Date: Out Now

Brooklyn quartet Razor Braids (great name, btw) sneaked in to my inbox with a big ol' tour schedule, a new single and a cover of a 90s classic. Tres sneaky. 'Nashville, Again' is as gentle and soothing as melodies come with a gentle guitar twang and slide atop a soft, shuffling beat introducing the song. It is, however, the breathy vocal harmonies that makes this such a compelling listen with a blend of Haim, Beach Riot, and First Aid Kit. Weezer's 'Buddy Holly' gets the dream-grunge-pop treatment and, honestly, it's one of the best covers I've heard in a long time as the vocals mingle with the lo-fi guitars like Uma Thurman dancing at an indie disco. A superb couple of tracks, more please.
