There is something brilliantly eccentric and deliciously cool about the music that Scott Lavene creates which gives me huge feelings of admiration but also a little bit of a man crush, if I'm being perfectly honest. Lavene's greatest single 'Prettiest Peach' continues that flirtation with a lo-fi beat, Jon Spencer-esque bass notes and vocals delivered with a mix of Phil Daniels and John Cooper Clarke. The mood swells gradually and almost surreptitiously as Lavene regales us with tales of his ancestors, their adventures, their achievements and their endings with both pride and sadness. That combination of bass line and lyrics will get me every time and I can't get enough of this.
