Leeds collective Venus Grrrls are back with new single 'Aries' and it is an absolute stonker of a track. A pulsating bass line, atmospheric guitars and drums beating out an aroused heartbeat all create the perfect bed for the luxurious vocals of GK to sprawl out on and entice anyone who cares to listen. This is undeniably rock but with elements of soul, pop and prog all sewn in to the fabric of a song that preaches the power of women. It would be so easy to sell this song on the strength of this being an all female band but that is kind of irrelevant when the songwriting and musicianship is this good. Stunning.
