THE ASSIST - SINGLE REVIEW

The Assist - Better Days

Release Date: Out Now

I think we could all do with a little pick me up right about now, a light at the end of the tunnel or a flicker of hope in the darkness. The honest indie-pop of Midlands maestros the Assist is just the tonic we need and their latest single, taken from their brilliant debut album, is the sound of hope wrapped in nostalgia and tied up with a bow of "the sun will come up again tomorrow" philosophy. 'Better Days' has elements of Reverend & the Makers to it with pulsating bass notes, optimistic melodies and Madchester vibes all supporting the wisdom and clarity of thinking bundled up in the lyrics. The Assist are one of a movement of bands starting to reflect the times we live in and I'm here all day for that.
