THE VELVET HANDS - SINGLE REVIEW

The Velvet Hands - Holiday In My Head

Release Date: Out Now

Cornish upstarts the Velvet Hands have taken a break from gallivanting up and down the country to drop new single 'Holiday In My Head' and it is something a little bit different from the lads. Sure, the garage-punky energy is still there and that gang mentality is very much present but there is a darker, moodier tone to this song that owes a lot to late 80s or early 90s indie bands with more than a fleeting nod to the Smiths when it comes to the jangling guitars and swoonsome vocals. I'm a big fan of bands trying out different sounds and toying with creating moods that catch you off guard without ever losing their core identity so this is a big thumbs up from me.
