SOPHIE ELLIS-BEXTER - SINGLE REVIEW

Sophie Ellis-Bexter x Wuh Oh - Hypnotized

Release Date: Out Now

So here's an interesting collaboration - the queen of posh-pop Sophie Ellis-Bexter and Glaswegian artist and DJ Wuh Oh have teamed up for the slightly bonkers and hugely wonky new single 'Hypnotized'. Ellis-Bexter is possibly the only pop vocalist (apart from Neil Tennant) with the diction to pull off rhyming 'hypnotized' with 'bed' and 'head' but it works as the pulsating beat, throbbing bass and bubbling synths provide the perfect bed for the vocals to luxuriate upon. There's a vibe here that is somewhere between Muse at their most poppy and ABBA at their most theatrical and that's a vibe that is, frankly, divine. A word of warning, though, don't look directly in to the video or you might end up thinking you're 16th century lady with a scandalous reputation. Or a chicken.
