Codewalkers - Preternatural

It's been a slow but steady burn from Welsh crew Codewalkers but on their new single I think they have finally delivered on their promise of previous releases. 'Preternatural' walks with the slow confidence of a cowboy and that wild-west vibe is mirrored in the video but there are so many other elements at play here. The laid back melodies are somewhere between Finlay Quaye and the Dust Junkys, the rapped delivery is a British take on West Coast flow and the unpredictability feels like Gorillaz in their early days bringing the hypnotic beats and a slight sense of darkness. Outstanding stuff.
