So here we are. The long love affair with Lauran Hibberd has come to a crescendo that her debut album is coming out in August with a string of festival appearences to support it. If you haven't caught on yet, Hibberd is what Dua Lipa would sound like if shed grown up on the Isle of Wight listening to No Doubt and watching Mean Girls on repeat. New single 'Still Running (5K)' (bizarrely featuring DJ Lethal of Limp Bizkit) kicks in with a chunky ol' riff, scratching records and Hibberd's slacker-meets-rapper delivery that makes her so listenable. This is a song about being stuck in the small town loop but also having ambitions of living the big life and, honestly, I'm here for that energy. This track in particular makes me think of Len and Brassy but I'll be comparing new artists to Lauran Hibberd soon enough, the copycats are just around the corner...
