DIE TWICE - EP REVIEW

Die Twice - Visiting Antonio EP

Release Date: Out Now

Exeter outfit Die Twice are dropping their new EP 'Visiting Antonio' and its quite the experience. Opening with '27,000 ft', a minute long stream of consciousness crackling through the ether above some atmospheric guitar noise, the EP proper gets going with 'Muddy Shoes' which bursts in to life with searing guitar riffs that then settle in to a quirky, Space-esque melody. Recent single 'Lady' is a smoother, more swaggering affair that has charm but also youthful exuberance while 'Friend of a Friend' is more of an acoustic meander through the early hours after a long night of partying.

Possibly the most middle class song title ever in 'Pumpkin Spiced Latte' still manages to start with a wail and the same energy as early Arctic Monkeys leading with a guitar solo and frantic drumming. Closing and title track 'Visiting Antonio' is a haunting, piano lead tune that has a hint of Haunted by the Woods to it as the delay-laden vocals swim luxuriously in the icy cool water of the piano notes that could have been played by Matt Bellamy. There are a lot of ideas on this EP and that's the best thing to find in an emerging band and there's talent to back it up too so Die Twice are certainly a band worth keeping an eye on. And an ear.
