KROOKED TONGUE - EP REVIEW

Krooked Tongue - No Vacancy Hotel EP

Release Date: Out Now

I should warn you, before you hit play on this one, that the 'No Vacancy Hotel EP' from Bristol trio Krooked Tongue hits hard and low from get-go. Kicking off with 'Vampyre', the three piece used a combination of churning guitars, pounding drums and snarling vocals to create an atmosphere of intense unease which is still utterly enthralling. 'Freaky Love' is a more urgent track but it still emerges from the shadows with a glint in its eyes ready to take on the night with those twitchy guitars and the kind of chorus that will have venues bouncing up and down in unison.

There is more of a rock vibe to 'Swarm' which lurches in to existence like a Shihad track hanging around the uppercut bass notes and guitar wrangling. The EP climaxes on title track 'No Vacancy Hotel', the most ambitious and sprawling track on the EP which explores broad nocturnal vistas full of neon and glowing red eyes. Krooked Tongue are the kind of band that you can rely on to create infectious, hard-hitting and uplifting rock songs that put a spring in your stomp. Excellent stuff.
