BAILEY TOMKINSON - SINGLE REVIEW

Bailey Tomkinson - Lights Went Out

Release Date: Out Now

One of the big USPs of Bailey Tomkinson is that she is emerging from the hastily labelled Kernowfornia 'scene' but, honestly, that's not a thing and Tomkinson's talent is such that she could be born and bred in Slough and she'd still be deserving of attention. This latest release, 'Lights Went Out', is probably the most mature track yet from the singer-songwriter as the sadness of the lyrics and brokenhearted melodies blend beautifully to create something to dance your way out of a slump to. There are hints of ABBA to the songwriting here which I mean as a massive compliment but then also elements of the Killers size and the Stereophonics story telling which is a neat combination to pull off. Tomkinson will, I'm sure, be forever grateful of her Cornish roots but her sound is starting to grow beyond borders so its time to let this particular song bird free.
