Ruby Fields is an Australian singer-songwriter with a penchant for truth and rawness which I am all for so let's dive in to her new single like it's a swimming pool full of truth on a hot day, yeah? 'Song About A Boy' opens with a rolling guitar riff and Fields' intimate and honest vocal right there in front of your face. I'm reminded of the more mellow songwriting of Jamie Lenman in terms of the unfettered energy of this and when the guitars kick in for the chorus the pop-grunge credentials are secured for sure. There's a debut album on the way this year and based on this I think it might just be worth a look.
