Imagine, if you will, a scenario where Young Knives and Queens of the Stone Age had double booked the same AirBnB in Croydon on the day that the pandemic properly kicked off so they had to bunk up in a two bedroom flat with no ironing board. Once you've fixed that image in your head, the soundtrack will naturally follow and that is the sound of offbeat duo Frauds' new single 'Ships'. Churny, gurning guitars work your body while the drums force your feet to move and the vocals mutter in your ear like a drunk on the last tube home. There is a vital and urgent energy to this track but a sense of dark theatricality as well and that is an intoxicating combination, no diggidy.
