LAURAN HIBBERD - SINGLE REVIEW

Lauran Hibberd - Bleugh (eOne Music UK)

Release Date: Out Now

Slacker indie-pop queen Lauran Hibberd is back (HURRAH!) with her best release to date in the shape of 'Bleugh'. This is a break-up anthem par excellence that takes the 90s attitude of Shampoo, Republica and Echobelly, mixes it with grunge-pop melodies and throws in some 2021 girl power for extra zip. The spoken word intro bleeds perfectly in to the perky pre-chorus and by the time you hit the middle-eight refrain of "we're not getting a dog, getting a dog, getting a dog" you should be well and truly infatuated. Hibberd's EP  ('Goober') is coming out at the end of July and I think it could be the smash of the summer given the swell of attention she's getting from BBC Radio and, well, anyone with a functioning pair of ears. There are actual, proper tour dates too - she's really spoiling us.
