I have become a little obsessed with this release from LA duo Von Boyage so I thought it was about time to share it with you lovely people. 'Laissez Faire' tells the story of the end of a relationship and letting go which is great but it's the melody, structure and delivery that really hooks you in. The acoustic strum, loose drums and vocal melody ear worm their way in to your subconscious and before long you're nodding, drumming and singing along. This has the kind of polish that you might expect from the likes of Tears for Fears, Duran Duran or the Killers but without any of the glitz or ego. This is raw emotion set to perfectly poised indie-pop music with a chorus that will have lighters (or phone flashlights these days) swaying in unison. The very definition of a sad banger.
