There is something slightly
unnerving and intense about ‘Rumpus Room’, the new single from Xiu Xiu feat.
Liars. The rhythms are erratic and skittish, the vocals are essentially a
drunken voicemail from Mike Skinner’s dad and the melodies are the result of playing
synths by hitting them with toys and sampling the bits that sound the best. Oh,
and the video looks like a secretly filmed afterparty from the filming of the
last episode of Eurotrash which went a bit too far and people stopped talking
to each other. Batshit crazy in the best way possible.
