This is the solo debut from Teesside
singer-songwriter Jak Lvr, formerly frontman of the Llovers, and as far as
debuts go, this is bloody impressive. ‘Still’ welcomes the listener in with an attention-grabbing
thumping beat before a low-slung riff and Jak Lvr’s subtle vocal join in to
create a sound that is part Maximo Park and part New Order. The chorus explodes
in a confetti cannon of joy which will work well on a film soundtrack or as a
bed for the Match of the Day goal of the month compilation. Plenty of potential
but a lot of it has already been realised so get involved on the ground floor
if you know what’s good for you.
