It feels appropriate to be
starting 2021 (aka 2020 #2; the Re-run) with my favourite UK band of 2020,
albeit with a release from the tail end of last year. ‘Chaos in the Rigorous
Form’ sees the excellent Erotic Secrets of Pompeii team with their fellow Bristolians
Martyrials to create three minutes of absolutely frenetic energy. Like the
Killers, Electric 6, the Fall and Grinderman on Scout jamboree with nothing but
Absinth and Mushrooms for sustenance, you can’t help but feel that this is destined
for a catastrophic end but it’s also impossible to look away so you might as
well hold your nose, swallow hard and join the party.
