Etoille Marley is a London based
French-Australian former circus performer and it’s not every day you get to write
a sentence like that. Marley’s new single ‘Cuffing Season’ is a mixture of
soft-soul, music box spooky vibes and a generous helping of alt-pop which has
the class to cut across mainstream radio but also the freshness and uniqueness
to appeal to a more left-field market. There are definite signs of performance
in this from the melody to the songwriting but I imagine that circus training
comes in to its own when Marley is performing on stage and bringing the audience
under her hypnotic spell.
