There is a huge amount of buzz
around UK artist and poet Arlo Parks at the moment and it is all entirely
justified as far as I’m concerned. Parks’ new single, ‘Green Eyes’, is a
chilled, mid-summer vibed track built around the most soulful and pure voice
you’re likely to hear anywhere in 2020. It is tempting and perhaps lazy to draw
comparisons with Corinne Bailey Rae and Izzy Bizu but there is also a touch of
Kate Tempest here in the substance and it is that substance mixed with an easy
style and effortless soulfulness which makes this so special. 2021 is going to
be the year of Arlo Parks so lets all make sure our wishes made on wishbones
this Christmas are for festivals to return so we can all bliss out in a field
to this purest of sounds.
