The Daylight Orange are a new act
on me but the Devon/Cornwall based collective are well worth discovering. Their
new single, ‘Salt Water’, has a dreamy indie vibe with guitars chiming and drums
loosely hammering out a beat and takes me back to the heady summers of the
mid-90s with bands like Cast, Dodgy and Embrace soundtracking many drunken
shenanigans. There is a sense of size here that’s hard to ignore and that’s
something so often missing in today’s guitar music releases, so this is a
welcome slice of ambition.
