Duke & the Kindred Spirits are unleashing new single ‘Temperance’ on the
world, so you’d better gird your loins or whatever way you prepare to hear
awesome new music. Woozy, twisted vocals creep out of the lips of the unhinged
before the most unexpected melody joins the party. The squelchiest of bass
lines and dreamy guitars compete lethargically with a sparse, rolling beat to
create something that exists somewhere between ELO, Squeeze, Mungo Jerry and
David Bowie. I am genuinely unaware of anyone else producing music like this at
the moment and we should thank our lucky star spangled trousers that these guys
have come along to fill that gap.
