‘Tame Impala meets Beck’ goes the tantalising subject line of
this new release from Loud Hound and that’s more than enough to tempt me in. ‘Melancholy
Boy’ manages to be both laid back and travels at a fair lick as it floats
effortlessly through a sunny day from waking up late to arriving just as party
is kicking off. There are touches of Rooney in here and Vampire Weekend’s later
material which makes this even more impressive when you realise this is the
work of just one man, East Coast producer and songwriter Tommy Florio.
Definitely one to keep an eye and an ear on.
