Club are back with another slice for your ears and this time it’s the turn of
Jet’s Nic Cester to take on the lead vocal role. ‘This Love Starved Heart of
Mine (It’s Killing Me)’ is a broken hearted blues-rock stomp that takes the
melody beyond the moody guitars to something more sweeping and cinematic, a la
Muse and Last of the Shadow Puppets (no surprise there). Cester’s vocals are raspingly
gorgeous, the force of the band is unstoppable and there’s a groove that is
undeniable which is just as Marvin Gaye would have wanted it when he recorded
it back in 1967. Gorgeous.
