I can’t read the title of this
new release from Victoria + Jean without doing so in an outrageous French
accent, a la the Pink Panther. But this is no laughing matter as dark electro
track ‘Imbecile’ as to intense to waste any time with such frivolities. A dark,
throbbing synth bass line is like hearing Depeche Mode stripped down to their last
heartbeat only to be reconstructed with robot parts and spare body parts.
Roping in the talents of French multi-instrumentalist Romain Humeau, this track
builds to a breath-taking crescendo that has flickers of Goldfrapp and Roisin Murphy
in its eyes.
