Now, before you start writing to the complaints department, I’ve checked thoroughly and this new single from Philadelphia’s Son Little is definitely called ‘Neve Give Up’ – the missing ‘r’ is intentional. Little (aka Aaron Livingston to his mum) is a bluesman for the 21^st century and with a new album on the horizon this is the perfect to get involved. This track is soulful with hints of gospel in the background but the delicately constructed melody and sparse percussion make for the perfect environment in which to wallow. Then comes Little’s husky, doleful voice which wraps you up in a warm blanket of understanding just as you hit your lowest ebb. Expect big things from Son Little in 2020.
