I don’t really understand who or what Melbourne based act Tones and I is but I think that just adds to the appeal of this unexpected smash hit single. ‘Dance Monkey’ takes the electro-swing of Parov Stelar and pairs it with a vocal that sounds like Sia’s dysfunctional sister who’s been singing on her own in a cave until a wandering producer happened upon her enchanting sound one day. If I’d had to put money down I would have said this was a track of Scandinavian origin due to the quirky melodies and hugely unique vocal so throw in the Australian influence and we’re looking at something pretty special.
