Irish singer-songwriter Wallis Bird has been on the edge of my radar for a while – like one of those blipping dots on the edge getting ever closer to the middle – so it’s a real treat to be able to finally hear her music with my own two ears. Bird’s new single, ‘Life Is Long’, is as uplifting as music gets with a rippling, bouncing melody and a beat that drops in and out with organic precision. Vocally, Bird retains some of her glorious Irish accent with every word she impishly sings but there’s also a cool classicism that you would normally equate with the likes of Sia or Christine & the Queens. I’m glad to have finally met Wallis Bird and you will be too. Trust me on this.
