IVORY WAVE – SINGLE REVIEW

Ivory Wave – Uptown
Ivory Wave - Uptown

Release Date: Out Now

I’m not sure it’s ever been cooler to be a Brummie thanks to Peaky Blinders so I’m glad to hear some great new music coming out of Birmingham courtesy of five-piece Ivory Waves. The band’s new single, ‘Uptown’, has a jangly, bubbly vibe that takes its inspiration from Madchester tunes but with a slightly 00s edge too. Imagine the nephews of Happy Mondays starting a band and listening to a little too much Hard-Fi and Athlete and you’re getting close. However, don’t let that put you off as the end product is greater than the sum of its parts with an infectious rhythm section, guitars that go on for miles and the kind of front man that will have audiences eating out of the palm of his hand – a little like the Reverend but slightly less in yer face.
