Westcountry upstart Chay Snowdon
and his band of merry musicians are back with a new track which is bang on
trend. ‘Men Cry Too!’ opens with fraught guitars and clenched teeth vocals full
of frustration and anger before the rest of the band join in with energy and
not an inch of fat on the bones. By the time the chorus drops, there’s a sense
of relief and a release of the tension but no stopping that driving rhythm
section who are very much determined to push forwards at all costs. This is the
sound of Jake Bugg fronting a agit-pop-punk band with the ethos of Idles and
the far reaching appeal of the Killers and that, if you don’t mind me saying
so, is a potent combination. Potent as fuck.
