65DAYSOFSTATIC – SINGLE REVIEW

65daysofstatic – Five Waves (Superball Music)
65daysofstatic - Five Waves

Release Date: Out Now

The opening of this new track from Sheffield quartet 65daysofstatic has a purposefully video game sounding quality to it but, as it emerges from the 16-bit ether, a cinematic vibe takes over. ‘Five Waves’ is a darkly beautiful slice of instrumental organiletric music that is not only big-screen ready but would fit perfectly on the opening credits of the next Mission Impossible, James Bond or, preferably, some dark cyber nightmare flick about trying to get off grid and stay away from surveillance (possibly starring Rooney Mara or Matt Bellamy in his first film role). I’m delighted to have stumbled across this piece of music in all it’s sweeping, brooding and mildly menacing glory but worry slightly about the mental health of four men who could create something so simultaneously beautiful and bleak.
