Canadian duo Mountain Head are
back with new single ‘Soul Stain’ and not only is it an absolute peach of a
tune but it’s also a real departure from their previous material. The track
opens with the kind of vocal melodies you might expect from Foals or the Maccabees
and a punchy indie-rock beat which get your head bobbing and your hips swaying.
The melodies are both futuristic and 80s inspired in a way that LadyHawke and
Kimbra have mastered but the brothers Hannah bring their own stamp to the genre
and it is genuinely infectious. This is the kind of tune that demands a second listen
as soon as the first one is done and if you can write tunes like that then that’s
half the battle won, surely?
