Enigmatic and intriguing Canadian
artist Iskwe is back with new single ‘Breaking Down’ and if you haven’t discovered
this lady yet then you need to get on board. This one flickers and crackles into
life like a ‘Zooropa’ era U2 track with snatched phrases feeding through from some
parallel reality before everything gets focused in on Iskwe’s powerfully direct
voice. The song drives forward from a dark place that is unsettling but you can’t
look away as Iskwe channels Tool, Goldfrapp and Kimbra in everything from mood
to performance. The video is a serious piece of art as well so it’s well worth
watching but maybe not just before you go to bed unless you want some twisted
dreams.
