I will forgive you for assuming
that a singer-songwriter based in Nashville called Eulene is nailed on to be a
guitar twanging country crooner but let me tell you right now, you’re wrong.
Dead wrong. Eulene’s new single ‘Megalomaniac’ is a dark and sexy
electro-banger with more in common with Goldfrapp, Patawawa, Grace Jones, Donna
Summer and Sia than anything Dolly ever produced so check your preconceptions
at the door and join me on the light up dance floor. Dirty bass tones, a la
Gary Numan, set the tone before Eulene’s sweeter-than-sugar voice lures you in
and when that steely chorus drops you know this lady means business. Put this
track in the hands of a Taylor Swift or Katy Perry and we’d all be talking
about a brave new direction and a return to form. As it is, Eulene is ready to
take on the establishment armed with a song that takes no prisoners…unless
they’re up for dancing, of course.
